*AN EPISTLE ON THE PLURALITY OF PROPHETIC VOICES*

_To the Saints, the Church, and All Who Seek the Truth of Scripture_

---

*Greetings, Brothers and Sisters, Grace and Peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.*

This morning I want to speak to you concerning a matter that has caused confusion in many hearts: *the doctrine that God uses only one prophet at a time.*

*No, Brothers and Sisters. That is not the witness of Scripture.*

God is not limited to a single voice. He is the Lord of hosts. And in His wisdom, He has often raised *two, three, and even a multitude of prophets at the same time* to accomplish His purpose on the earth.

Hear the Word of the Lord:

---

*I. THE SCRIPTURAL PATTERN: GOD SENDS WITNESSES IN PAIRS*

The Law itself demands it: _“By the mouth of two or three witnesses every word shall be established”_ [Deuteronomy 19:15, 2 Corinthians 13:1].

If God requires two witnesses in the court of man, how much more does He establish His own prophetic word with many mouths?

*1. Moses and Aaron* [Exodus 4:14-16, 7:1-2]
When Israel cried out in Egypt, God did not send Moses alone. He said, _“Is there not Aaron, your brother, the Levite? I know that he can speak well... You shall speak to him and put the words in his mouth.”_
Two men. One mission. One anointed to speak, one anointed to act. God would not send His people out with only one prophet.

*2. Elijah and Elisha* [1 Kings 19:16-19, 2 Kings 2]
The Lord commanded Elijah to anoint Elisha as prophet in his place. For years they walked together. Elijah did not fall silent the day Elisha appeared. There was overlap, training, and confirmation.
When one mantle was being lifted, another was already carrying it.

*3. Haggai and Zechariah* [Ezra 5:1, Haggai 1:1, Zechariah 1:1]
In the year 520 BC, when the Temple lay in ruins and the people’s hands were weak, God did not send one builder of faith.
_“Then the prophets, Haggai the prophet and Zechariah... prophesied to the Jews who were in Judah and Jerusalem”_ [Ezra 5:1].
Two voices, one message: _“Build the house of the Lord.”_

*4. The Two Witnesses* [Revelation 11:3]
Even in the last days, the Lord declares, _“I will grant authority to my two witnesses, and they will prophesy for 1,260 days.”_
God’s end-time testimony will not rest on one man, but on two.

---

*II. THE SCRIPTURAL PATTERN: GOD SENDS A COMPANY OF PROPHETS*

*1. Samuel, Gad, and Nathan in David’s Day* [1 Chronicles 29:29, 2 Samuel 12]
Three prophets ministered concurrently in one king’s court.
- Samuel anointed David.
- Nathan revealed the covenant and brought correction.
- Gad gave direction in times of war.
God surrounded David with prophetic counsel, not isolation.

*2. The Schools of the Prophets* [2 Kings 2:3, 2 Kings 4:38]
In the days of Elijah and Elisha, there were “sons of the prophets” in Bethel, Jericho, and Gilgal. Fifty men stood at a distance and watched the mantle fall.
God raised a generation, not a single man.

*3. The Early Church* [Acts 13:1, Acts 11:27-28, 1 Corinthians 14:29]
_“Now there were in the church at Antioch prophets and teachers...”_ Not one prophet. Many.
Agabus prophesied famine. Paul commanded, _“Let two or three prophets speak, and let the others weigh what is said.”_ [1 Corinthians 14:29]
The New Testament model is plurality, accountability, and confirmation.

---

*III. THEOLOGICAL TRUTH*

Brothers and Sisters, to say God only uses “one prophet at a time” is to deny the fullness of Scripture.

*Why does God multiply prophetic voices?*

1. *For Confirmation*: So the Church is not led by a single opinion, but by a tested word.
2. *For Transition*: So the mantle is passed without a gap. Elijah to Elisha. Moses to Joshua.
3. *For Burden*: Because the work is too great for one man. Rebuilding a temple, turning a nation, confronting a king requires many hands and many mouths.
4. *For Protection*: Where there are many prophets, there is weighing. Where there is one, there is no accountability.

God is not the God of monopoly. He is the God of multiplicity in unity.

---

*IV. A FINAL EXHORTATION*

Do not despise the prophet in your midst because another has risen.
Do not silence a voice because God has already spoken through another.
Test every spirit. Weigh every word. But do not limit the Holy One of Israel.

For the Lord can use *2, or 3, or 10, or 100* at the same time, if it pleases Him to pour out His Spirit on all flesh [Joel 2:28, Acts 2:17].

May we be a people who recognize God’s voice, no matter how many mouths He chooses to speak through.

*The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen.*
